Colombia gives boost to profits Adidas
The sporting goods producer Adidas increased in 2013 profit up 50.7% to EUR 790 million, boost significantly by sales in Latin America.
Adidas faced last year to the negative effects of the exchange rate, weak sales in the golf business, problems in Russia and low demand in southern Europe, Italy and Spain. Without the negative impact of the strong euro, turnover of Adidas had risen by 3% last year.
Revenues in Western Europe declined by 7% in emerging European countries 3%, and 1% in North America, but in China rose 6%.
Sales last year were up 6% in Latin America, to 1,575 million euros, mainly in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico. No negative effects of the exchange rate of the euro, turnover had risen by 19% in Latin America. All this helped by the great performances of the football teams from Colombia, argentina and Mexico. In cup world increased their profits by having the two finalist teams and high performance as Colombia, and now the sell of Real Madrid Shirt in Colombia will be increase thank to James Rodriguez.
The brand in Colombia also sponsor local teams such as Millonarios FC and America, which are the teams with more fans in the country.
